FAQ

What is Competitive Business Intelligence- Principles and Applications?

In the corporate world intelligence means having the right information about a competitor, a product, an economical or political situation, and it is an essential component for decision makers regardless of whether they are individuals or an organisation.
More than ever before, business is being conducted with unfamiliar individuals, companies and organisations, whether at home, or abroad. It can be difficult to pin down the bona fides and credentials of the people you’re dealing with.
In these circumstances you can be unwittingly exposed to a range of risks. It might be that your new business partners can’t deliver what they promise, or there may be important concerns regarding their reputation and integrity that they would rather you not know about.

By failing to conduct proper due diligence you could be exposing yourself, your business and your employees to threats such as fraud, corruption, money laundering, organised crime, industrial espionage and terrorism.
The consequences can involve serious financial loss, damaged reputations, regulatory sanctions, criminal charges and unfavourable media coverage.

Author Mario Bekes describes not only what corporate intelligence is- he deconstructs it, piece, by piece and bit by bit, describing in painstaking detail what each component of corporate intelligence does, how it works and why, when combined with all the other pieces, makes the puzzle of corporate intelligence into a crystal clear picture.
By explaining in clear, concise and easy to understand detail, Mario Bekes unlike other authors on the subject, unravels the mystery of the workings of corporate intelligence and what it means for each and every company.
If you are serious about protecting your company and livelihood, Mario Bekes’s book should be on top of your reading list.

Chaos Theory – Road to Anarchy

Chaos Theory - Road to Anarchy

About “Chaos Theory – Road to Anarchy”

Imagine if you were to awaken one day and, although the world around seems the same at first glance, it actually is not? Imagine that you must stay inside your house day after day without the possibility of watching TV for the news, unable to have fresh water from the tap. Cut off from all possible information from your area, country or the world.

The book Chaos Theory – Road to Anarchy is not about how to define the process of chemicals, electricity, lasers or fluid dynamics; it is the simple question: what would the outcome be for us if this happened?

We can find on the internet, in text books, through movies so many interpretations of the Chaos Theory, the Domino or Butterfly Effect, but in reality it is hard to predict our actions, actions that can be related to each other without even realising before that they were related; for example if we have no electricity how will we survive without it or how would we survive for seven short days without electricity?

What alternatives to electricity do we have and who is eligible to use these alternatives? We know the likelihood and certainly can imagine the dire consequences of this happening; however the Chaos Theory is nothing more than thinking about the seemingly endless possibilities of our actions and at the other end the very real consequences of these actions. In other words Chaos! Just a small change in the initial conditions can drastically change our long-term behaviour.

If we have electricity at our disposals each and every day and for some reason the conditions of having electricity in our homes changes, will Chaos prevail? I believe that it is possible, because there are so many factors that contribute to Chaos for it to be successful and all of this will have a negative impact on our society, even if it is for one day. That is the trigger, which can cause the domino effect and destroy our civilisation as we know it today.

Instead of being re-active I decided in my book to be proactive by elaborating on the possibilities through theorising “what if” something greater happened, something that may be most trivial, like a power failure. Will this bring our society on the brink of extinction? Perhaps not, but certainly it will trigger some side effects such a riots, theft, looting, shooting and in the end this will be the start of Anarchy.
